Just got back from a less than memorable trip to New England area.
Weather was just as bad as its been here. Visibility was awful. Ran into some money
issues that forced me to cut the trip short and blow off other plans I had for up that way.
I was hoping to revisit the site in Oxford, Maine where I saw The Grateful Dead in 1988.
Then I was to head on to Kina's for some wheeling. These were two of the things I was
really looking foward to but I had no choice but to scrap it.

I was happy to get some long distance driving in. Learned some valuable lessons that will
help for sure come Octobers trip to the Southwest. Something positive out of it at least. :)

Hit my favorite resturaunt on the planet in Pt Judith, RI on my way to camp in the White
Mountain NF

Spent 3 days in Acadia. Hiked into clouds/fog. More of seeing very little.

A pic I took last time I visited Maine on July 2 1988. I regret only taking my camera into
2 shows out of the 100+ I saw. Didnt want to lug it around. Couldnt see straight to begin with so trying to focus was useless.;)

so what were the lessons learned and what happened on your trip to cut it so short.

I took a nasty fall this weekend and cant remember much now:bang:

Its been 20 years since I drove around the country. I didnt have a credit card then.
I was on a tight budget for this trip and had just enough on the card for gas. Had pocket cash for whatever. Well when you put your CC into the pump, the gas station itself can put any authorization amount they want on the pump. Even if your only getting $30 worth of gas if your card isnt able to take the authorization amount you get rejected.

So if pump was set at $150 and you had less than that available...no go.
Ended up spending all my pocket cash on gas.

Dont fold tent wet was another one. I had no choice on that really. It rained everyday.

For October trip I will pay a big chunk of that card and get another one as well.
There was other small stuff but i cant remember. I crashed at a friends house this past friday, thought I was going to take a leak in the middle of the night. What I thought was the bathroom was actually 18 steps. I walked right into the abyss.

That's happened to me before. I hate that s***, but I don't mind that it takes sometimes 4 days for a gas purchase to clear.
