RHD to LHD conversion

A '91 can be imported to the US fairly easily. Personally I do not like right hand drive in a left hand drive country. Personally I would not accept the complications of a "never imported to the US" engine to maintain. But lots of guys here feel differently and there is a small but avid market for this rig here in the US. Even with the cost of transport I expect you could find a buyer who would happily deal with the costs and paperwork to have it.

There is not really any realistic way to convert this rig to left hand drive. I mean... it *could* be done... but you * could* build a space shuttle too. ;)

Destiny is calling !!
I will be in Pordenone next week.
I live in Rome, but i am a pediatrician who has a position in the pediatric emergency room of the pediatric hospital of Pordenone.
I have two daughters married to Americans who live in Denver.
A big Toyota enthusiast, I also have a 100 and a 95 landcruisers, and I would immensely regret giving our 80 which made us live wonderful adventures in Africa in the past years, to the landfill friends from Namibia.(we are in company with 3 old friends, Alex is one of them, my name is Pieluigi Casa and I founded a small hospital for children in Congo)

Hi Ozark 80,
You are welcome if you want to save our Hdj80, even if it has some mechanical problems, but easily solvable.
Namibia is a wonder land, the Etosha park, where we have been many times, is a place to see at least once in a lifetime.
In fact we could even think about selling it there, but they,i mean the custom advised us against it.

Does anyone know of a place that converts rhd 80 series to lhd 80 ? Thanks
I know this is 3 years old, but no one really pointed to an answer.
I started accumulating the parts to do the conversion for an HDJ81 that I'd imported several years back. An enterprising independent or auto restoration shop should be able to do it. You need at least a LHD donor dash, a steering box, and the dash wiring harness section. I also ordered several yards of various color / gauge wire to be able to splice in the donor wiring harness. (I think you'd also want the steering column / turn signal stock, console / shifter and e-brake assembly.)
It didn't seem too insurmountable a project to me and I collected the dash, steering box, and several of the other interior pieces from nearby TX junkyard cars (even cut out the mounts from a US model to put the third row seating in).
Soon after getting all the parts, I landed a new job and, knowing the conversion was going to involve drilling out the rivets for the steering box and drilling new holes in the frame on the other side for the LHD one, I got spooked by the complexity. I put it up for sale and it had a buyer within a few weeks (he took all the extra parts too). I kick myself looking at prices now!
If I were to attempt again, it may be faster to start with a LHD (w/ good body but blown motor for cheap) and then get a wrecked / rusted out HDJ81 (or half-cut - are those still a thing?) and swap over the diesel powertrain.
