EDIT: THIS TITLE SHOULD BE
THROTTLE /ACCELERATOR STICKING

I have a weird problem with my 2005 amazon automatic diesel

If I'm driving steady and let go of accelerator, the revs don't drop
And car keeps going (scary)
The pedal moves back to the neutral position but the car revs are high

It also does it at idle
If I Rev then let go it won't drop the revs
It doesn't happen all the time

I saw a good article about the pre 2003 throttle body and acceleration position sensor, but mine is post 2003 and it's different

I've cleaned the throttle body carbon build up, and also the egr valve but problem persists

Any one able to shed some light?
My initial thoughts are the accelerator position sensor is faulty
Is there a way to service this part or know for sure it's the issue?

I was plauged for years with my 2000 Isuzu Trooper that had high idle even when warm
and like yours idle remained high when I removed my foot from the Accelerator. My
Isuzu also utilized the APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) and a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
at the air intake. On my Isuzu there were two mechanical stops that could be adjusted
with a screw driver that set the absolute minimum opening for the air intake. I adjusted them
to make the flap less open at resting position. The Isuzu was "drive-by-wire" like the LX.

This may or may not be the problem with your diesel engine. But on a gasoline engine when
you press the Accelerator pedal you are not adding fuel, instead you are adding air and the
computer compensates by adding fuel.

Check your oil level, if overfilled the engine will run of its own oil, which is scary. To set idle the control system takes into account coolant temp, alternator load and air con demand. So check that the coolant level is good and that there are no air locks. Check battery condition and turn off heavy loads, try running it without air con on. Try resetting by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins then let the engine idle for 15mins with no accessory's on. These system are closely monitored so it would normally pull up a fault code if there is a TPS fault, tech stream would be useful to read sensor data.

Sounds stupid but make sure that the floor mat or carpet isn't grabbing the throttle pedal, its more common than you would think.

Everything is normal with levels
I think it could be a sensor

I get the following issues

Sometimes it stays in first gear and revs all the way, if I release accelerator it keeps revs constant for a while before changing gear

When driving at 50kph with steady acceleration at about 2.5krpm, I let go of accelerator and the revs dont drop, and the car keeps these revs unless I press the brake pedal or shift into neutral and back to drive

Any ideas what this is?
