Just the frontal lobe.

Rev Limiter

Depends if that frontal lobe is Atari 80 based, or INTEL Inside... :grinpimp:

I think the auto tranny will take care of that for you in most cases. I really don't think people would be able to find a way to over-rev this engine while driving (unless you tried to go down the Hwy in Low) and I really don't know why anybody would hold WOT in park...

I hope I didn't sound like I was dogging Toyota too much - I love my 80 and the prospect of my spouse absentmindedly (Even though she's more observant than most) destroying the engine makes me cringe. In my 95 SC400 - I know she wouldn't be able to over-rev due to the built in limiter.

96LX- I agree. I'm surprised they did not include one, as well.

yup those rev flares when it changes gears on long highway hills can be a little scarey. looks like it will go north of 5500 if you let it but i've never tried

rev flares when changing gears? I have no idea what you mean, semlin. Oh yea, you have the A442F.

A442F rocks...................

crawls over em too.

Just because you have a rev limiter doesn't mean you can't over rev an engine. Rev limiters are usaully just a fuel cut off. If you somehow get the transmission to shift into to low a gear the engine will over rev. This is quite a feat in an automatic transmission, but is quite easy to do in a manual.

I would be real surprised if the 80 didn't have a rev limiter. Arya's post pretty much proves it does.

I'm curious, can any tell me of any vehicle sold in the last 15 years that didn't have a rev limiter?

It happens that today I got from a super respected source the full answer on this ...

Not only does the 1FZFE have a rev limiter but in typical toyota fashion it is overengineered in the sense that when the limiter is activated, not only are revs actively limited, but the ignition is adjusted and the fuel starts powerfully pouring in to prevent the vehicle from leaning out!!! So the main message is ...

Feel free from time to time to drive like I do!!! :D :flipoff2: :D
