I'm going to bite the bullet and replace my worn stock suspension with an OME kit. Has anyone in the Bozeman area had a shop do this for them that they would feel comfortable in recommending?

I stopped by the local 4x4 shop to get a quote and talk about options but was sorely disappointed. They straight up told me they don't like Toyotas (seriously, as I was standing there talking about dropping $1,500 they told me they don’t like Toyotas) and the guy behind the counter had no clue about anything Landcruiser, or OME for that matter. This experience didn't instill a lot of confidence in me towards this particular shop and I sure don't get excited about dishing out my hard earned $$$ to a shop that exudes an anti-Toyota attitude.

Any recommendations in the Bozeman or Belgrade area would sure be appreciated.

Thanks.

it's actually not hard to do it yourself. basically a bolt on, hardest part is removing the old stuff, but here in MT it's not as bad as the eastcoast where i grew up.

check with Kurt @ cruiseroutfitters in SLC for pricing on the lift.

I thought about doing it myself but time, garage space, and mother nature (no heated work space) got me to think twice. Plus, I kinda like having the peace of mind that it will be installed correctly.

I'll drop Kurt a line for sure. Looking around a few sites at OME kit pricing reveals quite a difference, like $300+ from one site to another.

Just so I dot my I's and cross my T's (I'm going blue in the face reading posts and searching), all I've found for suspension replacements are OME and HFS. As far as I can tell there's no stock Toyota suspension or 0 lift suspension kit available. Am I correct? Because I'm really, really hoping to find a 0 lift replacement kit.

there is a spring shop in Great Falls, they might be able to just set you up with new "0" lift

also Alcan in Colorado, should be able to help.

I pulled a pair of fronts off a rig I parted 2 years ago, new replacements. I'll see what the #'s cross over to.

I would rethink doing it your self, it really isn't that bad, the only real difficult part is taking out the old bushings, but their just a big hammer away from being off. should only take several hours, an impact wrench helps as well. Larry

Now I'm thinking I might just do a MAF add-a-leaf to the rear with new shocks on all 4 corners. I'd really like to go the Alcan route so I can keep it looking stock, the problem is they want 1K+ for just the springs. And I've decided OME & HFS is out, too much lift for what I'm trying to accomplish. I can't belive how hard it is to keep the ride hight on these 60's looking stock-ish.

I live in Great falls and travel here every weekend so if you need somehting hauled to Swains (assuming that is the shop suggested) I can take it there. I even know the owners.
Just a thought.

got a trailer I can even drag it to them if you like.

but i see this is an older post, but thought I would pipe in.

new to this forum and my 76 40 I just bought. yahoo
