I thought it would be a good idea to do the 90K service since I was at 93K. I got the T-belt and all the other parts that are a good idea to replace at the same time.

I have to say that it's good you only do this every 90K. It is no easy job. So far, I've had to remove the fan, fan shroud, take 2 of 3 bolts out of the A/C compressor, unbolt the alternator and unbolt the PS Pump. All of that was necessary just to get all the timing covers off. The cam and crank pulleys came off without much trouble but the crank pulley that drive the T-belt is turning out to be a mother....

I've got a puller on it, the style that uses two bolts threaded into the pulley and then a large center bolt that you're supposed to crank down on and it will pull the pulley off the shaft. WD-40, gentle smacks with a hammer, nothing. I'm going to let it sit overnight with tension on it. I can't replace the crank seal if I don't get the last sprocket off. I'd really like to replace that while I'm in there instead of it starting to leak 3 years from now.

I'll take some pictures of my piles of parts and front of the engine with all the belts, covers, idlers, water pump, etc. removed tomorrow.

Now I understand why dealers charge $1,200 to replace the timing belt and other parts.
 
can you do other things while you're in there? How about doing the contacts on the starter - it's tucked way back in there but since you're working under the hood.....
 
Oh, no. That's a whole different animal with several hours more work. You have to remove the intake runners to get to it since it's in between the V. Plus, the PO said the starter was replaced at 80K.

I still can't get the timing gear off the end of the crank. It sat all night with WD and the tension from the puller.

well WD (water displacer) is one thing... is it impervious to PB too? sounds fun, i don't envy you man.:doh::censor::popcorn::crybaby:
