Replacing Roof Antenna Unit?

Hi all,

Been a member since 2008 but this is my first post.

I recently bought a 2011 LC with only 55k miles on it to replace my 2003. Last night my wife closed the garage door as I was backing out and it damaged the roof antenna unit and dented the the roof a bit. The antenna unit will need to be replaced. I took it to two body shops today and one said they would have to remove the whole headliner (sounds like a nightmare job) to get to it and the other said they can remove it partially without damaging it and still get to the bolt and wiring harness to replace the antenna and make repairs. I am hoping the second shop is right but thought that I would confirm with you all first.

Does anyone have experience replacing the roof antenna unit on 200 series LC?

I have had the back portion of the headliner down enough that I could look at how it was mounted. I considered removing it, as I never use the satellite radio feature, I was hoping to use it for my ham radio antenna mount. But the hole is too big and not round, so it wouldn't work anyway. So, yes, I think it could be replaced that way. Not sure about fixing the bent roof though.

How soon after did you file for divorce?

I’m looking to possibly remove the fin mount an alternative antenna elsewhere. My roof rack seems to interfere with it. Also, thinking about trying to fab up some kind of “table holder” similar to the Front Runner one.
