I'm very familiar with the 1-piece cases but have never done any work on a split case. So I'm wondering if I can I replace the Idler Shaft O-Ring on a 1988 FJ62 Split case with transfer case in the vehicle just by removing the retaining bolt and carefully sliding the shaft rearward until the O-Ring is exposed, then Remove/Replace it, and slide Idler shaft back in with out thrust washers, etc falling out of place.
