One of the fan clutch studs on my 3rd gen 4runner is damaged. I'm not sure what happened to it, something from before I owned it.

I tried to remove the nut on it, but the nut is stuck on the damaged threads and when I turn it with a wrench the stud itself turns and starts coming out.

Has anyone here had to replace on of the fan clutch studs? Any advice on how to do it?

I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole Fan Pulley Bracket.

Any help appreciated.

Just turn the damaged stud out and thread a new stud in its place. Should be straightforward.

Yea that's what I ended up doing. Once I got the stud out I was actually able to repair the threads with an M8 die. Stuck 2 nuts on the end and turned it back into the fan clutch bracket and put a new M8 flange nut on. Working fine now.
