Just did the Search and came up with some good hits, also did the FAQ and that was good but i need some pictures of where you guys are connecting that Prestone flush kit 3 way thing. I am lost when it comes to this crap, also any pics of where the darn block drain plug is loacated somewhere behind the oil filter??

Just need some help, the coolant looks brownish and was replaced almost a year ago, want to do it myself so i know its done right.

Any help would be well.... HELP.

Need more advice, where do i connect that T? I have no clue??

I'm clueless as well, but slomo used E9999's write up in the 100's section and said it was great. Eric has pics as well. Do a search in that section on this subject with E9999 as the author and you'll find it.

What do the directions on the kit say? Mine's on the top heater hose that runs right in front of the firewall, parallel to the windshield. Basically the highest point in the system. This is on a 3FE.

C'mon; be brave and cut that hose! :D

uh? 100 section? nope, we don't bother about little details like coolant with our 100s, only iced lattes... :D

(should be in the 80 section)

I attached it to the upper coolant hose that goes through the firewall. I don't have any pictures, but I know I have seen some somewhere on here. I didn't want to cut the hose either so I removed one end and attached the Prestone T and used a longer piece of extra tubing to connect the other end, kind of making a big circle with the extra piece so to give the appropriate approach angle. I hope that makes sense. I think the longer hose I used was about two feet long.

Good luck.

I have a question about the prestone kit.. The nozzle attachment that is supposed to go where the radiator cap is.. Its too big to fit in the hole on my 1993..

I did a flush when I bought the truck, and this made for a bit more of a mess. I'm going to do it again this spring, so I'm curious if there is more than one sized kit out there that people are finding or just skipping this part.. Sure is nice to be able to direct that flow from the out of the engine bay tho..

thoughts? experience?

Eh forget it, this is one thing i don;t want to screw with. i just called my buddy (asst service manager) at my local Toyo dealer and he just did the whole thing for me for $50.00 plus i had my truck inspected ($37.00, needed it). flushed both heater cores, block and rad. Said all looked perfect, and the service is warrantied for 12 months unlimited miles.

It only took about 45mins they did it with there machine and replaced the green with toyo red.

Best part was all the prospective FJCruiser owners looking at my rig when it was sitting outside the showroom while i was getting dropped off to get her.

The coolant "diverter" that came with the Prestone kit was too big to fit all the way in on my 97 as well so what I did was hold it down on the radiator neck manually and diverted it out of the bay that way. Just make sure the front of the cruiser is as close as possible to the hose spigot. Makes much less mess that way. Having an assistant to turn the water on and off is even better.

FWIW As far as where to put the tee I did it as e9999 reccomended in the heater return line where it exits the firewall and connects to the metal tube that runs along the top of the exhaust manifolds and down to the thermostat housing. I also used a 3 foot length of 5/8 heater hose and temporarily connected it inline as a big loop on top of the engine as mentioned above by JZenger to avoid cutting the OEM hose. In this location e9999 suggested you back flush the heater cores by flowing the water backward. If mounted in the horizontal line up high on the firewall it would flush in the normal direction of flow which would probably still work fine. The coolant flows through the firewall on the drivers side and exits on the passenger side (US).

same here, used electrical tape to keep it in place.

I also temporarily tapped the tee to the return and removed it after the flush.
