I have a late-style PTO box where the gear runs on a brass bushing (rather than the earlier bearing-supported type). I have a new shaft, but still feel what I consider too much slop in the gear on the shaft. Although it's a rarely used PTO gear and not really critical, I'd prefer to have it with a nice thin oil clearance. New gears are not available and the bushings were never sold separately.

Are there off-the shelf bushes which I can find that might fit? Maybe a reputable supplier with many off-the-shel sizes? I've tried googling but came up with nothing promising. The ID of the bushing should be 20 mm, but the OD I am not certain of. I don't want to press out the old bushing before I am sure I can find a replacement.

Alternatively, is it simple enough for a machine shop to turn a bushing and drill an oil hole? It looks like a bi-metallic bush - is there any reason not to replace it with a plain brass bushing?

There are companies in the USA that make custom bronze bushings.

Any competent machine shop with a lathe can turn an oilite bushing. If you have accurate measurements I’ll offer to draw it up for you
Thank you very much. Right now I'm looking if I can find a grooved bushing, maybe even a modified piston pin bushing in the correct size. I'm not sure about replacing what I have now with a plain brass bushing, which I think is all a local machine shop could do. Appreciate the offer though!
