Hi all.

I typically do not do a lot of trailering with my 62 but I am moving this week and will be pulling a box trailer. I have to replace the round 6pin style electrical connector in the back due to it being broken/worn.

The rig has a class 3 hitch on it. I will be picking up the box trailer from UHaul and want to make sure my electricals are in order prior to pickup.

I am not certain what the "common" styled trailer connectors are but I have always used the flat 5 pin style when I've pulled trailers in the past with other vehicles.

Should I keep the 6 pin? Upgrade to a 7pin or wire up a flat 5pin instead ?

I'd obviously need a hook-up that is Brake light, park light and turn signal ready.

Thanks in advance!

Todd,

Thanks for the quick help!

Given that my rig currently has the 6pin plug in the back and you recommended the 7pin/4pin adapter, Would you think it's okay if I get this one instead, cut the "dodge" plug off and have wires to splice to my existing wires as opposed to having to insert the wire leads into the connector itself?

Thanks!

Yeah thats doable too . They make one that like that but has a 4 flat and a couple of pigtails for the others too ,that maybe a little cheaper then the dodge unit but the dodge one will work if you dont mind splicing

Where can I find a cheaper unit ?

I'm looking for something with that configuration and hopefully some wires behind it to splice?

Thats about the cheapest ,now with me looking with the google :)
Just the plug is not that hard to put on and it cuts down on a bunch of butt splices to get NE salt corrosion
