I finally got my batteries installed. Is this normal and if it is should there be a longer bolt with a spacer? The hood closes fine. The threads are not engaged on the bolt

Did you get the plastic tray to lock into the metal surface? There are few indentations and those should match. If all good, I'll get a longer 12 mm bolt. Do you have a plastic/rubber shield to protect the positive terminal?

It's a Slee battery tray, there is no plastic tray. Just some rubber at each end and on the hold down.

The cover was gone when I bought the LC. It hasn't been a problem so far but the the OEM battery isn't as big as this one.

The highest point on mine is the fuse block on the positive terminal and it's not hitting. I bought the (expensive) battery that Slee specified so I think all is good. I talked to a guy at Slee (about my TB swap) and asked him about the battery hold down. Simply put, I need to find or make a j-bolt, put it in loosely, tighten the front, then tighten the j-bolt and it'll be fine.

The aftermarket j-hooks at The auto parts stores are longer than the factory Toyota ones. I had to purchase one for my wife’s 4Runner and I compared it to the one in my truck.

I never thought about checking there. I was just going to buy some steel rod, thread one end, and bend a hook in the other. I'll check the auto parts store. Worst case I can add thread length and cut off the excess
