on top of that the new radiator doesn't have the threaded holes for mounting the fan shroud in the first place.
any tips here other than cutting the shroud in half? Do I need to pull the radiator back out and put the shroud in first?

most likely different in my KZJ78 but i have to put the fan and shroud in at the same time, the radiator I bought to replace the factory one is thicker,no holes for the shroud either I just drilled it,, plus its really easy to drop the fan against the radiator fins and wrecking them

I put the fan and shroud in together as well. I put some cardboard against the radiator first so that I don't dent the fins with the fan. I just pull the cardboard out the top once the fan is attached before I tighten the shroud bolts.

Exact process I use when reinstalling the radiator; although I use two pieces of duct tape to hold the cardboard in place during reinstallation.

I hang the shroud on the fan then fix it to the radiator when its in.
