Not sure what to call them except maybe rub rails. I took off the OEM roof rack and noticed several of the strips that are on the roof have damage.

Would like to pull them off and leave off, but didn't want to start as I wasn't sure what I would be getting into.

And if I should decide to replace, I can't find a part number or any attachment hardware so maybe (if I'm lucky) they are on with adhesive like a body emblem?

Looked though a bunch of the gallery and did some thread searching, and found nothing. So if you can provide some info or point me to a thread, I would appreciate the help.

Those "rub rails" are being held down by some strong adhesive. I deleted my roof rack on my 80. I'm assuming it's the same with our 100 series.

Here's my post from back in 2014 and a pic with results after I was done.

I just used my thumb and fingers to pull off the adhesive. My hands and especially my thumbs were messed up for days. If you're looking to spend a little cash there are attachments to remove the adhesive with your drill. Specific adhesive removers are available as well. I was just trying to spend as little money on this modification.

A mini follow-up.

Saw a YouTube video of a guy that used a heat gun and a cloth to make the sore thumbs approach a little bit easier. Tried it and it sort of works. My guess is that stuff was up and in the sun for so many years....

Anyway, went with a adhesive eraser wheel chucked up into a drill. Made the job quick and easy, but lightened my wallet by a few bucks.

Thanks to @OG 91 LC for letting me know there weren't any hidden fasteners that would leave behind a hole.

Now that the roof is clear I think I might put down a sheet of 3M car wrap vinyl in matte white, what with the Florida sun and all.
