removing internals of air pump.

hey guys, is it a bad idea to leave the air pump with out its hoses from the desmoged? anything i need to know before taking the internals out and just leaving the bearing? this will mostlikely safe me some gas. thanks

Won't hurt to 'gut' pump . . .

Doesn't buy much, if any, mpg . . .

Really saves ya if the vanes break & pump locks up.

You do need to keep the pump, or an idler of some kind;
the same V belt drives the water pump . . .

can i just do it with basic tools? looks like is not that much work? need to know anything special about taking the vanes out? thanks
