Hello,
Is there an easy solution to removing the insulation glue on the roof? Man, that is tough stuff!
Thanks,
Chuck

I asked that a long time back as well. I am going to use a wire brush wheel if I ever fricking get to it. I thought about just lighting it on fire at one point too though. I also thought about some paint remover and a scraper.

Yes, I've tried the wire cup brush on a high speed angle grinder. Nothing about that method is high speed!

Cooling the roof down with dry ice helped a little, the glue came off in larger chunks, but it still left behind the thin layer where the glue adhered to the paint. I used a plastic chisel and a hammer, with the chisel at a fairly steep angle to the metal.

I've tried using a heat gun, but that left more residue than when I chilled the roof.

Anybody come up with a better idea yet? There's always sandblasting it, but I'd rather not go there just yet.

As for the small bits left over...acetone works in large quantities.

Tried small amounts of goof off, wd-40, ronsonol lighter fluid, and shooter's choice solvent, they didn't seem to work well but I didn't feel like soaking a rag in any of those either.

I wonder if Naval Jelly will cut that stuff off. It eats rust like no tomorrow wonder if it will have any effect?

Yep, that'll throw glue pieces all over - messy. I used small amounts of heat (mapp gas tank), waving back & forth. It'll scrape off easy after that. Also used some paint remover & let that sit for a little while & wiped off the remaining residue. Your shoulders will get a workout.
