Removing exterior door moulding/trim

door-moulding.jpg
i found this in the service manual for the front door...what is this picture telling me to actually do? I know there's a phillips head screw that needs removing, but i can't decipher this picture, especially the circled scraper thingy.
Anyone done this? (yes i searched) any tips?
cheers

You should be able to just lift or peel it off. The door lock actuator thread might nave something more specific. The picture is showing a cross section of the trim molding.

yeah i was wondering if was a cross section of it. That's what i'm trying to remove so i can sand it and spray it black. I'm not touching the door handles just that chrome moulding strip.

I've read on lcool.org that they are a PITA to remove, but no-one has posted on actually doing it.

Just to clarify, it's the chrome strip here (not the rubber strip) from the side mirror to the edge of the door frame/window frame and you can see it stops where the gap is between the front door and the rear door:

EDIT: yes i know i have to remove the plastic thing near the mirror and most likely the interior door trim panel etc as per the pfran42 link above. Maybe it will be more clearer when i do that. I'll be taking photos.

I have done it when I took the window out to replace the door lock actuator motor. IIRC, there is some info in there about it. Be careful not to bend it too much because it could kink. Otherwise use the tips of your fingers and tools the FSM says and roll/ pull it off.
