Hi guys,

I have a 100 series landcruiser that blew a head and/or gasket a while back. Being short on money and lots of free time, I decided to pull the head off myself. All went well, but now the car is just sitting there in bits waiting for me to be able to afford to buy new parts. So I figured I may as well rebuild the whole engine while it's just sitting there. But here's my problem... I can't find any info on lifting an engine with the head already removed. I originally thought somehow lifting from the head bolt holes with a chain diagonally across the block, but then wondered if it would be strong enough as the bolts are vertical and all the weight would be on the threads. Or perhaps using a lifting plate on the centre of the block, also using the heat bolts? Any advice would be awesome.

I should probably note also that I'm not a mechanic, and although I don't think it's anything I can't handle, it's still all pretty new to me.

Thanks
