Im not at all pleased with the way the shackle angle has worked out on the rear of my 62. Up front it could be better (maybe 30 deg now) but its alright. The angle out back is very close to vertical though, and is giving the rear end an even stiffer ride than i would expect from my heavy ass rear springs. I can really feel the bumps get sent up into the frame on washboard roads. Im thinking the answer is to move the rear spring hanger forward 2-3" to correct the problem. I was originally thinking of just sliding it up so that the rear hole in the hanger would be over where the rivet for the front used to be, but thats looking like 3+ inches to me (didnt have a tape measure handy). Anyone else done this to their rig? Im not sure how good i would feel drilling two more holes in the frame, but i dont imagine a say 5/8 hole would really affect the load bearing capacity of the frame. On a related note, i am leaning toward getting some nice ARP bolts and just bolting it on (its only riveted as it is), but do you guys think it would be better to weld it on? Id just like to stay away from that so if i ever need to move it again i wont have to butcher up the frame to get em off. Any input would be great.

How about just loading up the rear of the truck to flatten out the springs out a little bit. Is the lift new? If it is, then they will flatten out and give you a better ride, eventually that is.

Well, the lift is still rather new, but i dont imagine its going to settle in too much. I suppose i should just live with it until the springs completely settle in and then worry about moving the hanger, but its at the point right now that at full droop the anti inversion bar on the shackle is like 1/4 inch from hitting the hanger. At least if it even starts to invert it will immediatly be stopped, but its closer than i would like. Other than that, how would the best way to move it be? Are bolts enough? Its not that big of a deal to drill a couple holes and the benefits to articulation and ride would be immediate. I mean, if i move them, and i a year i want to move it back it would only be a matter of moving it over and bolting it back up.

I would *not* move the hanger forward, but if I did, I would *not* just bolt it, definitely weld it.

I second the vote to add weight, just go to Home Depot or Lowes, get a bunch of bags of cement, drive around (preferably off road) with them in the cargo area, then return them. Trust me, it WILL settle.
