Morning all - checking in from the Big Bend area of Florida as a Red Hills TLCA member. Long story short, I'll be heading to a wedding in North Georgia 8/20-/8/21, but I've decided to make a week of it and will be heading north either this Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to visit family that weekend and meet up with Pops for a few days of exploring/camping the week leading up. To make this short story long, I am also anticipating a (potential) move for work next year to the Upstate area, so why not explore the (potential) future home and reach out to my new (potential) club? As it sits now we have our relocation eyes on the Greenville area or possibly head a little further west for a Lake Keowee area life to relive my childhood spent on Lake Lanier.

I'll be taking the 80 Series and dad will be following along in his Jeep with a trailer after I leave behind my wife and kid with her folks. I reach out for any suggestions/advice for areas/campsites/planned routes to check on this trip. Total last minute, but I just decided to pull the trigger on trip extension yesterday. As it sits now, we'll probably be doing three nights with travel from Jefferson, GA to ??? Monday and meander our way back at some point on Thursday. We did parts of the Georgia Traverse a couple months ago, but found most of our time spent in the Clayton area.

This go round, I've got my eyes on this general area:

As I'm not entirely familiar with the area (I've car camped on Keowee and spent a day on Jocassee, but that's about where it stops). What say you fine folks? Just looking to explore a bit predominately by vehicle as the old man is, well, old. Vehicles are capable, though!

Cool! Nice 80 too. A lot of the campgrounds in the area have been pretty booked up, but worth a shot. Keowee-Toxaway State Park often gets overlooked and has decent tent pads off Hwy 11.

Here is a basic fun road with scenic overlook. A nice waterfall (Twin Falls) nearby and drive to the top of Sassafras Mountain for sunset viewing completes a good day. Jumping Off Rock Overlook · 448 Horse Pasture Rd #440, Sunset, SC 29685 - https://goo.gl/maps/saZc6eykRs5Z9qHQ6
Thanks!

You know it's funny, the only time I've been to camp at Keowee, we camped at Keowee Toxaway. Cool little spot for sure! Thanks for the direction on some things to check out.

Any go-to trails in the area?
