I am thinking of picking one of these up...

New 17,500lb Electric Winch w/ Wireless Remote

Some outfit in Vista is selling them for $350 cash. I have found good and bad reviews but an thinking at that price what the heck.

At that price its def worth the gamble. Especially cause you don't wheel solo.

I have been wondering about those guys. They sell Chinese log splitters, stump grinders and other equipment. Curious what you learn.

You can regularly get the 'badlands' harbor freight 12K winch for $299 on sale, a lot of positive users of that one (including myself). I've only used it a couple of times, but it worked and did the job. If you buy their extended warranty you could even return it if you had an issue.

For those not at yesterday's meeting, I picked up that winch. It's large and quite heavy. I'd say it's about the size of a 17k lb winch. It comes with wired and wireless controls, fair lead, pair of gloves, etc... The cabling is of a heavy starter-grade gauge.

There are no markings, serial numbers, etc... to indicate brand or anything else.

I can't wait to try it someday and see how it works.

You will need an anchor of some sort to pull yourself upright in the sand. No trees at Pismo.

Tim's truck!

Are you implying that Tim's truck is an anchor?

When you think about it, all trucks can be anchors.

Barney's truck is more of a land yacht with a nice swim step.
