Anyone have any recommendations for a run on Wednesday? Is the back way to Crown King still closed due to fire danger?

Thanks!

@Skrugg, welcome to the CSC forum, great gang!

Maybe bump around the coves. Close to town, water(lake) readily available and as easy as you'd like or challenges abound if you choose. Also, no lack of knuckle headed humor, and general idiocy by others around you.(given the holiday or almost any time these days ) That said, I've never ran into actual trouble or questionable situations with folks, and the further you push in, the traffic drops off quite a bit.

Bring an awning or an easy up for sure, as shade if by water ( or anywhere ) is hard to come by for the most part. Add cooler, chairs, sandwiches, cold drinks and you're set!

Set up a run or inquiry as to folks wishing to join, you may get others to jump in at this late hour, given the close proximity. I suggest a very, extra early start. It'd be a fun place to test your new 80, with "lots" of presumable help around, if needed. ( sure it won't be )

No Tonto pass needed once through the gate and we usually pack out a bag of trash with out too much work to get the bag full, unfortunately.

Where are you located in the valley?

I just ran Smiley Rock north to Jerome on Sunday, temps were perfect, trail is in good condition, beautiful area with lots of trees, no closures. We left the 4 Sons market on I-17 and Carefree Highway at 7ish, hit the trail at about 8:30, got into Jerome around noon, 2 trucks. There are some rocky areas in the wash but nothing too challenging. Jerome is a hoot, everyone should visit at least once, one of my favorite places to take guests.
