Yes, it's a little ghetto, but central AC is out of the question. Anyone have any window shaker brands or models that they like? Is the Sears Kenmore stuff any good?

Looking to spend under 500 dollars. House is small and it doesn't get hot that often in Seattle... we just want something that is efficient and will work the 7 days out of the year when things are miserably hot.

Thanks!
Jason

Window units are not efficient, but for 7 days use out of the year you should be fine.

I have one of the LG units from Lowe's. 18000 BTU. It does not quite cool my shop to 72 degrees, but I am in Texas so starting at 100 degrees and cooling down to 80 is good enough for me. The unit cost about 450 dollars and it has a power save feature as well as a remote control.

I looked at ductless mini split systems also, but at the time they were about 1500-2000 dollars.

We have a GE power saver energy star 10,000 btu... 150 bucks at Sam's club.

Works great for about 250 sq ft.
