Greetings All,

Recommendation:

1. If you have an on-board air compressor, suitcase compressor, winch, electric/air lockers, transfer case, fridge, etc.,—I’d recommend running it at least 1x month to keep the seals and electromagnetic components functioning—or to identify if something is not working.

2. I do this 1x monthly when I have my family vehicles on the garage lift to look things over, top off tire pressures, etc.

3. Obviously do the same for your Land Cruiser if it lives the life of a garage queen/king—or sits at another location where it isn’t used often.

4. I found that the AC on one of my trucks out of state at our other home wasn’t functioning well due to sitting (for 2 months) recently—low R134.

5. Take a monthly shakedown drive of rarely used vehicles of at least 1 hr—or take the significant other out for a drive, telling him/her/other that this is necessary maintenance.

Several posts made me think to mention and reinforce this—as it is recommended by some manufacturers.

It is also better to do it now vs. before a long trip or when you are in BFE—and find that the accessory/vehicle gave up the ghost.

Thank you @kcjaz as I have OCD, which serves me well—yet things slip through the cracks eh.

Agreed that a car should be run to keep it in top shape.
About the AC low in refrigerant, that should not happen in 2mo. You should troubleshoot it further. You surely have a slow leak somewhere.

@doru

Agreed. That rig sits alone and is only driven regularly when we trek to Montana. Didn’t notice it previously as we usually have the top off, or it is cool outside.

it’s a Jeep lol—cue the reliability jokes.

I am a Jeep convert, I haven't owned one in a decade but they still exist in our family and I still love the look and capability of a modded Jeep. They certainly have their issues but so do our beloved Toyota's. In regards to the initial statement, I make a habit of cycling on my ARB twin compressor once a week and I try to make sure I put the t-case in 4-low once a month along with the CDL as well. You must exercise these things in order to keep them from having issues. I'll do a run down of all systems as well as lubing anything with a zerk fitting and changing the engine oil in the coming weeks prior to our trip to Colorado/Alpine Loop.
