What double DIN unit would you recommend? Will not be changing out factory amp ....at least not at this time.

Do you want DVD? Nav? Bluetooth? I've been happy with my Kenwood unit. Really like the Garmin GPS in it. How much you wanna pay? If I had to do it now, I'd probably look more towards an app radio. Kids are outgrowing DVD's, and I have more music than I can listen to on my phone. Nav apps as well. Could forego the cost of xm with better phone integration.

I recently researched it, but decided to delay for now
The choice is really quite wide, and depends on what features you want and how much you are willing to pay. There is no harness available, so the custom install will ideally need to be done by somebody who has done it before. You will also need a dash kit which costs $120 unless you dont care what it looks like. App Radio with the Pioneer units costs an additional $100, and there are reports that it can be buggy.
There are excellent write-ups on this forum, but I was somewhat intimidated to do it myself. Once I decide exactly what I want and save up the $$, I will get it professionally done. Cheapest quote for a decent system with BT, iphone integration, and no NAV was around $600 (the HU was $250). Hope this helps.

This is probably the cheapest and most basic that offers a decent amount of functions, no nav though. Has CD player, Auxiliary, Bluetooth, Bluetooth audio, etc.

I have the previous version of this, paid an audio shop $80 to wire it (including microphone) since there is no harness available and I'm lazy. Still don't have a $100 trim piece for it, but it doesn't look too bad without it. You can have a decent setup for around $225 without dash trim.

Just installed the Pioneer AVH-X2500BT in my 01 LC and am very very happy. The install is a piece of cake and you use your factory brackets and no face plate is required. Other than the difference in plastic materials from the new HU vs. the old it looks very nice. The back up camera feature is a great addition.

You can purchase a Metra Amp bypass harness as the factory amp is a junker. I've got my eyes set on new speakers and amp at this time.

This is a vehicle that stays at our ranch and gets used only once a month. Looking for something I can play iphone, radio and bluetooth. Nav is not necessary......cheap works.

TXLX100,
This is what I'm looking for....
Where in TX?

I've had this Clarion CX501 for a few years and its been great. I was looking for a bare bones head unit with plenty of powerful RCA outputs and flexible crossovers. I didn't need a screen since I have a separate GPS for topo maps. I use it to stream calls, music and pandora through my iPhone. No adapters necessary, it uses the factory brackets. A wiring harness will ease installation, though. It seems fairly well regarded by the mobile audiophiles if you are one of those that can hear the nuances over 33" ATs at 65mph. And can be had for less than $175 online.

It's really a robust unit for the price. Only downside of the version we have, we have to reconnect the Bluetooth audio every time we start the car, the Bluetooth calling is fine.

Home for me is in Fort Worth. We have family and places all over the state, all the way to the southern end of Laguna Madre. What parts are you from?
