I recently purchased a portable solar charger from BestBuy for 1/2 off and I was wondering if I could change out a 3.7V Li-Ion rechargeable battery with the following specs:
Rechargeable battery 3.7V 1000mAh (Lithium Ion).
Rated output 1.5 to 5 watts.
DC input charge range: 5-6 volts at 400mA.
Solar panel output 0.6 watts.
To:
High quality 3.7 V Li-Ion rechargeable battery pack
Made of 3 2200mAh cylindrical 18650 cells with PCB and poly switch for full protection
Built-in IC chip will prevent battery pack from over charge and over discharge and prolongs battery life
Max. charge current 3A
Max. discharge current 6A
Cut off voltage 4.35V
Over-DisCharge Protection: 2.4V
The dimensions are comparable, and I can make it fit physically. It would be a pretty good upgrade if it works (6x the storage capacity) since I would just need to solder in the new battery's leads to the connector, or build a new connector from parts I have in the lab.
