My slave on my 84 fj60 bled to death today. I will replace the master and the slave. The PO, who was a meticulous SOB if there ever was one, gave me the original parts that he relpaced @ 50K or so, He rebuilt these and kept them as spares.

Question is should I use these rebuilds or just buy new? Searching post seems to indicate that it is less than $100 for totally new master and slave.

PO is a mechanical engineer I don't doubt his abilities, Just question if the rebuilding is a reliable way to go.

Thanks for input

I just replaced wih new genuine Toyota....$150 for both and an easy job....contace Cdan!

I agree with 3putt. Don't waste time on the rebuilts. Keep them in your truck as spares. Brand new ones are not that much and will likely last another 20 years.

i have a new one i'll sell ya for 30 bucks plus shipping....i bought a new one for my v8 conversion, but instead of using the bracket to adapt it, i used the OEM GM slave. it's just sitting in my cabinet. PM me if ya want it.

Correct rebuids are at least 80% as good as new IMHO. I rebuilt mine & they're still fine 5-6 yrs later.

Yeah it would seem so. I just got out the manuals and read on the rebuild, looks like if the bore is clean and you use the oem parts it should be pretty sound. I dismanteled the ones if have and they are fresh and clean.

You already have some rebuilt ones int your possession? Why not slap thoses puppies on? It's seems like a no brainer to me. Why would you go buy new when you already have replacement parts? The worst that could happen is that they leak and then you have to buy some new ones. Most likely, you'll save yourself $100+.

that's what I did, slapped those puppies on, took me longer to find someone to pump the peddle than it did to swap em out.

It was a $ thing too, got no $150+ right now. gonna rebuild the ones I took and lug them around with me in case these blow out. If they blow out right away I'll go to new parts.. I'll keep ya posted.

Didn't know how simple the mechanism was till I dismantled the rebuilt ones and looked at them. The bores are clean the seals are new...I'm on the road again

Heck if anyone wants my old master master to rebuild, drop me a PM.
