My first post here... I just finished building a 3FE with an H55 5 Speed and 4 speed transfer case to drop into my FJ40 and now a move is forcing me to sell my project baby.
The engine is a 3FE from an FJ80. It was just balanced and blueprinted at Bob's Machine in Los Angeles (they do tons of cruiser motors), 0.040 over forged pistons, M12 custom grind cam, all new bearings, new cam gears, new oil pan and pump... everything! I had this motor built to pull strong in low end torque. It is a complete long block from the top of the injection system to the bottom of the motor.
The H55 5 speed transmission was just rebuilt with new bearings, etc. at Anaheim Gear as was the split transfer case from an FJ60/62. The two are mated together and complete. They have a one year warrantee too. I had the tail shaft changed to a new one with the drum brake on it so it will work in a FJ40. Bellhousing and new clutch set up are included.
I have all the smog stuff, alternater, power steering pump, etc. for the motor. I also have a complete wiring harness from an FJ62 with the computer so the conversion in a FJ40 would be a simple one. Just pull out the FJ40 wiring harness and put in the FJ60 harness, make a few minor mods to it for some of the lights and dash, and pow, you have a factory set up.
I also have a factory FJ40 power steering set up so the whole thing would be Toyota.
I was going to build my FJ40 the way I think Toyota should have, nice torqie fuel injected motor with a 5 speed. I've gathered everything so the conversion would be 100% Toyota. Sweet set up if you ask me. Unfortunately, moving and loss of having a garage is forcing the sale. I spent over $11,000 on the motor, $4,000 on the tranny/transfer and a couple thousand more on all the rest of it, probably close to $17,000 total.
If anybody is interested, I'll sell it all for $11,000. It's located in Los Angeles, CA. I'll even include a new Big Red engine hoist and Big Red engine stand.
