Looking for input on options on rebuilding an original alternator with a failed stator winding. One of the three windings has a very high resistance.
This is a newer type of alternator with stator, rectifiers and voltage regulators all soldered together ('08 and '09 models). I would like to fix it and have it on the shelf as a spare. But I'm not sure how to repair this, other than have it completely 're-staked' (think this is a hairpin design).
The part labeled as 27360 below (part# 2736050430) is around $600 (more in Canada). Would I be better off to return it for the core charge? Did anyone ever rebuild an alternator with an open stator winding?
