Hello All,

I think I have said Hey at least once on here. I hope to make one of the meetings soon but doubt I will be able to make the next one though it sounds like a lot of fun. Wrenching right up my alley.

I just thought I would post a link https://forum.ih8mud.com/paint-body/202093-redneck-rebuild.html#post2994335 to my build up I started in the paint and body section. I really hope to have a reliable truck by April so I can go to Tellico for that Large GTG. Real goal though is my B-day on St. Paddy's day. But that is fastly approaching.

Anyway if you are ever in the Sanford Bragg area in the evening or a weekend feel free to stop by. I will be here in the garage trying to get this thing ready...I have a beer fridge

This weekend is to get the lift kit on and finish the bed liner and maybe a coat of paint here and there.

Next weekend I am going to address the fuel system and getting it running well. That and finishing paint I'm sure.

After that I need to make the darn thing stop. Rear disc brake swap.

Then finally I need to get the thing wired...and who knows how long that will take. I don't even have the headlight switch in there now.

Then lastly maybe a rear locker and getting that orig winch to work or throw another one on. I'll be plum out of money by that point but I should be able to enjoy it and have one hell of a time at Tellico.

Hope to see you all around soon.

nice build up site...let me know how the rear disc brake swap works out for you...my younger brother is in Bragg now and when I swing by to visit I would like to stop by and check out your FJ...good luck with the FJ build up...Roger

Thank you for the support. I have yet to even see if the 4WD works on this. I'm told it does. But with a 1.5 liter fuel tank (juice bottle) I can make it from the back yard to the front and that is about all I have driven it. I sure hope it does though as I really want to make it out this spring with you all.

I think I have most tools I need (find ways to manage with the basics) but I can always use advice, a helping hand:wrench:, and someone to help me empty out my beer fridge:beer:

Bored

Well I have a busy weekend in front of me. I need to run into town and pick up a few parts and bolts but then I should be good for the weekend.

List of things to do.

Rebuild Carb and get this thing running correctly.

Coolant flush

Put the lift kit on

One more coat of Bed Liner

Fab up some brackets to allow me to put my rear bottom doors on

Fab up some Brackets to allow me to put on my roof rack

Seal the top

Throw on my doors

Finally connect main fuel tank spout

And if any time left take a look at the wiring and throw on the ugly rear bumper.

I have a 4 day weekend and plan on spending the whole thing working on this.

If anyone is bored and wants to lend a hand I would love the company more than anything and I could always use a hand with the lift as I've never done it before. Can't be to hard though.

More updates soon and hopefully I will be ready for the trails in a few more weeks.

I'm pretty much nowhere. Tried rebuilding the carb but runs worse than before which isn't saying much as it would never run without dieing.

If there are any carb guru's out there this weekend that want some beer in trade for getting this thing running I would be very grateful. I remember why I'm a diesel guy now.

Wish i would of seen this earlier, might of been able to give you a hand with the carb. How far apart did you take it ? I've got tomorrow off, and the only thing i have to do is take my headache rack to RH to get it painted. I will PM you my # and maybe we could meet up tomorrow.

Thank you for getting back to me.

I left you a phone message and PM. I will be around all day tomorrow. Going to try to finish up my ghetto fabulous roof mounts I am creating (I'm embarrased to even show them) and if I can get in the garage get the lift on).

I also got the rear doors on today, but that is about it.

Hope to hear from you. I would love to have a running land cruiser. Just a big paperwieght right now.

Looks like you should be able to make the March meeting! OBX?

Most Def! To both.

I think if all goes well I will be at the next meeting and HAMON. As for the OBX I sure really hope so. I was just reading that I need to have it registered to drive on the beach. I had just planned on towing it there. Well I don't have a single light on it and I have yet to transfer the title over as I'm an Oregon resident and driver. I'm hoping I can get it done and all back in time. I guess if worst happens I can always just go grab a temp or have one mailed to me. For $20 I may just do that anyway.

I'm in the same predicament. Mine's from Mannitoba, so I've got to do the DMV shuffle in the next week or so to get the title, license, and inspection. But OBX is my push to get it done...

Good deal,

You can keep me motivated. I filled out most everything today, but I have to have a vin inspection (A new thing in Oregon I guess). But luckily I can just have my commading Officer sign off on it and I'm good to go.

Only real kicker is I wan to use Some Yellow Oregon plates I got off an old mercedes I crushed but I don't have the vin number. Maybe I will register the plates I have all of the info for and just use those as eye candy.

Do you really only think it will take a week? I was hoping that I could get it done in 3-4...that is I get it out of here Wednesday, and they hold onto it for a month then tell me I'm missing something and send it back with a void check. Ohh that would be sad.

Oh, I meant take a day and go down and sit in line. Check out the NCDMV site, I beleive all you need is the old title, title application, damage disclosure form, and a bill of sale for the new title (plus $70) (in my case I believe property tax will be due). They'll mail the title to you, but you can get your plates same day as long as you have proof of insurance and your license, (if you need a plate). But this is NC stuff, Oregon, who knows? I just have to take a day off to do it... cause they can give you the run-a-round...:crybaby:

Brian, just a bit of information, I would consider traveling to the New Bern Avenue DMV office as it is a headquarter office and not a contract branch. This helps in the event there are any questions with the title work, I had to do this with a GA FJ40 that was not titled because State of Georgia did not require vehicle titleing. I was in and out in a matter of 45 minutes, plate and registration in hand.

As for oregon though

Yeah I'd agree about the new bern ave DMV. I had to get a title changed over (although it was an NC title, not sure about other states) in my name and I had forgotten to sign the title back in 2001. It had already been notarized and signed by my bro-in-law. I asked the 'pleasant' guy at the Info Desk in the titling and registration room if I had everything I needed and he was kind enough to tell me that I might want to step out of line, go sign it, and come back as if I had just walked in for the first time. But the line was long so I signed it in line anyway.

Point being, ask the person at that help desk (at DMV on New Bern Ave) if you have everything you need or what else needs to be done.

The line was long but I walked out with plates and registration in about an hour. Title came in the mail a week later.
