Some may know, my 200k 2f has had a minor low end knock since i bought it, I wasnt that concerned since it was a very straight rust free rig, In the past few months it seems to be getting somewhat worse, but my oil pressure is great and its smooth after getting a few rpm's going , maybe it just likes oil pressure... I have a 2f in my parts truck that probably needs rings and a valve job , that i could go with, and do myself, but i would much rather have the current engine rebuilt, I just really dont have the time to pull the current motor and do a full rebuild, plus i would rather have a reputiable person do it and I am not that guy... i've done a couple engines in the past but would rather just have someone i can trust to do a good job... any recomendations? I am thinking of just taking it to Donnies and letting Forrest Lovett handle it, but that shop rate is a killer... I may have to just cheap out and build my other 2f while waiting on this one to throw a rod or whatever its going to do..... any thoughts ??? thanks Dave

Having your spare rebuilt on the side, and spend a weekend swapping them out is how I'd do it.

You could try throwing new bearings at your current motor. Drop the pan, and do it right there in the truck. You might get into it though and find that the crank is the problem and not the bearings. Doing this isn't ideal, but I know of one person that has done this on a 22RE and it seems to be living just fine. You can only do the rod bearings this way.

It's a shame that 2F rebuilds are so expensive, and the right parts are sometimes hard to find. :frown:

Or go GM 5.3/4L60E and cruise at 75 on the interstate while getting 16+ MPG. :D I like the purity of all Toyota though.

Thanks Josh, I think your right, i have debated the v8 vs 2f and love the benifets of the v-8 but kinda decieded the 2f is the way i wanna go.. i think your right, i just need to pull the other engine, and build it as i can.. money is tight right now and hopefully i can get this done before it lets go,

It may be worth a shot to talk to Bill at Napa here in town. He's the main guy in the shop and seems to be very knowledgable. He's rebuilding a Heep motor for a buddy of mine and has been a wealth of info so far.
