Am I stuck with a vibrating rear view mirror or is there something I can do? Its almost useless after I begin moving......

Original mirror and mount in '65 Fj40...Soft top, factory full size doors...Good windshield gasket installed....

Windshield frame seems as secure as possible but could/would that be the weak link?

My 1966 factory hard top rear view mirror doesn't wiggle, I can see pretty well out the back.

That makes me think it could be your windshield frame vibrating.

Don't know about the earlier mirrors, but my 78 has a piece projecting from the rear ( toward the winshield). I put a piece of rubber hose on it between the mirror and the winshield and no more vibration!!

either fold a note card a bunch of times and wedge a small part of it up in there, or you can try taking the mirror off the mount and rebending the flat metal pieces inside. That was my 2 tricks. Its a pain in the ass I know.

I'm thinking the mirror has a male end that fits into the female end on the windshield frame. My '76 just pulls right off, but you wouldn't know it by looking. Try that and then adjust the clips inside.

X2 on what bigndn says, the cast female piece attatched to windshield may be worn. I have the same issue. Thinking of putting shrink tubing on the spring clips to take up the wiggle and clip it back on.

it snaps out just rebend the clips inside and your good to go good luck
