My rearview mirror (center of the windshield) fell off. It looks like there's a small metal plate/bracket that clicks into the black piece stuck to the windshield and then screws into the mirror assembly. That plate/bracket is messed up (some tabs broke off). Searching online, it seems that toyota wants to sell only the entire mirror assembly (for over $800). Does anyone know the part number and/or a source for the metal bracket? If not, how do I get the piece (or whole mirror assemble) from a junkyard? If anyone has a referral to a source that will pull and ship the part to me, it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

I figured I'd post a follow up on this in the unlikely event anyone ever searches on this topic in the future. I went and actually spoke to the parts guy at a dealer (instead of relying on online searches). It turns out, that they had a combined part comprised of the black piece is attached to the windshield together with the metal plate/bracket about which I was asking (the plate was pre-installed in the black piece) for about ten bucks. The black piece screws into a square attached to the windshield and then the mirror screws into the plate pre-installed in the black piece. Super easy, even for someone like me with very, very low DIY skills. Also, since I've complained a bit about the dealer when I've felt ripped off, I should say nice stuff when they help me out.

I guess I missed this the first time. Beno could've helped you out. I wasn't lucky enough to have the mirror so I had to buy one.

There are tons of aftermarket mirrors available and none of them have the Toyota bracket or right wiring. I destroyed my windshield when I tried to remove the factory bracket. Not worries... sort of but not really... I'll just replace the windshield and get the glass company to install the aftermarket bracket. Ummm no... the windshield came with a genuine Toyota bracket and my aftermarket mirror wouldn't work.

If I ever buy another 100 series the first thing I'll ask is if the mirror is original and does it work...

I need some help as the whole mirror assembly came unglued from my window. When I went into the auto parts store, items there just didn't look up to snuff. I called an independent Toyota shop and they said I need to see a window person. The only window person I've seen so far said that window adhesive that they have won't do the job. I will check on some more window places when I can but I was wondering if anyone here has some ideas.

Thanks
