Hi all,

I noticed my rear wiper has a lot of play in both the axle and in the blade hinge. Here are some pictures to see the range of motion it has. Compared to my Volvo this is huge range for free play.
Is this normal?
If not any advise how to fix it?

This is the hinge I was referring to:

Max up - using only blade hinge play

Thanks!

Seems a bit excessive. And yes they do wear out.

The arm, hub and cap is 85241-60140
New blade if you want one too is 85242-42030
In the future if you just want to put a new refill in the blade 85214-0T040

I put a little blue pill in the gas tank but that didn’t seem to stiffen her up. Maybe two?

Kidding aside my 08 has quite a bit of play as well. I’ll be ordering a new one. Make sure you put some penetrating oil of some type on that nut. Mine is pretty rusty.

Thanks for confirming, the part numbers and the tip about the oil. My nut is not great either. Maybe I get a new nut while I'm at it.

Or any m6x1.0.. the factory one is likely knurled on the back to prevent loosening.

If yours is corroded I’d plan to also have trouble getting the arm off the splined/tapered shaft.

For reference, on my 09, using the tip of the blade, I can only move it from the bottom to the top of the black strip around the window. Only about 1.5" total play in arm and blade.
