One more problem with the rear window cleaning system. The wiper doesn't wipe the very top part of its arc. It seems to skip right over the glass-- but only at the top three or four inches of its arc.

I replaced the blades with OEM from CDAN, but that did not fix the problem. I replaced just the blades, not the blade holder.

Any ideas on a fix? I seem to recall that there is a spring in their that can weaken, and that one solution is to drill a new hole to extend the spring. That is just a generic solution I heard about, so I don't know if it would apply to a landcruiser in general, or the rear window wiper of an 80 in specific.

The spring at the base has weakened. You can purchase a new wiper arm for less than $30 IIRC.

Oh, and I JUST bought a new one from dan, and I still get area's of less-than-adaqute-wipage.

Can't you just get the spring itself?
Can the spring be tightened?

i had the same problem, i just bent the arm where the top would meet the glass and it works great now!

Often just bending the wiper arm blade in the appropriate direction will effect a cure but as stated else where it may need replacing as the spring takes in a set through the process of creep and then does not provide the correct tension. The moving parts, that is the hinge becomes stiff with corrosion and detritous. :bounce:
