Reason #426 for hating the silly space ship rear spoiler on my '07.

Cannot open lift hatch with skis on the rack.

The recent storm in Tahoe gave me a good oportunity to test out the 100 on some pretty slick roads as well as deep snow... I am a very happy man! I never thought I needed heated mirrors, but now I couldnt live without them!

How is that AHC system working with your heavy bumpers, sliders, etc?

So far so good.

The front TJM isn't as heavy as an ARB Combo, and I don't have a winch yet, but I'm sure that I had 500 + lbs of snow and ice stuck to my truck at several times over the last few days. AHC worked fine!

I havn't had it fully loaded with people and gear climing a steep tough terain yet.

Hey, at least it's a good handle to climb up there and start knocking that snow off;)

Sweet pic. Glad I can travel to that -when I want to- from Folsom!

Hello Sean,
I bought your 100 parts step board, bumpers, tires, remember? send me over the spoiler and i'll send you the oem third light. :)

do you have the rack bars mounted as far forward as possible?

I was able to move it about 5" forward and now I can get it open. But it still only clears by 1/2". I guess I should be happy about the trend toward shorter skis, my old 210's wouldnt fit.

I just like complaining about the spoiler! I just dont get it, big useless plastic thing that cant be removed without leaving big holes in the truck.

I wonder if we could use rubberized well-nuts to fill the holes? Might be a bit ugly, but at least would look clean.

I just reconfigured my rooftop tent to open over the rear hatch, and I'm worried about the stupid spoiler as well...

edit: I will say that, compared to my old 80 Series without the spoiler, it does seem to keep the rear window cleaner.

I plugged them with a rubber grommet thingy for a month or so.. I later had them properly plugged and painted..

you could also use a good quality sticker that matches the color of your truck.. I was going to do that because the black grommets really stood out.. I then found a place that would plug and paint the tail gate for about $30 so I jumped all over it

I installed pan-head bolts and used my touch-up paint to color match.

Spoiler holes Cover Up

As far as spoiler holes go, this is what I ended up with. ABS plastic shaped to cover all three holes, painted to match and one button head allen bolt to cover that odd tack weld spot as well. A plastic piece large enough to cover ALL the spots looked even more out of place and I thought the bolt gave the whole "cover up look" a sense of purpose, like I wasn't trying to hide everything, even though it does absolutely nothing. I tried white to match, but again it looked like I trying to hide the whole mess. Still toying with the possibility of buying a new hatch, w/o spoiler mounting holes and having it painted and keeping the OE hatch as-is in case I have to put things back to stock- UGG.

If you're willing to do that, it might be cheaper to just weld up the existing holes, grind them smooth, and repaint. It would be harder to return to stock, but not by much (not hard to drill holes in sheet metal).

Sorry for the potentially stupid question, but what does the rear spoiler actually do???

It's supposed to help keep the rear window clean.

That one looks different than mine, but as far as function goes, the one I have is designed that while moving, it directs air down over the rear window to blow off dust when driving in desert, or dusty roads. It works, I had one on another 4wd once long ago.

I like the one on my '04 better than the one that comes on the newer model.

Might be able to see it in my picture thread. I'm gonna go have a look.

Ok yeah as you can see, mine is more like a wing that is parallel with the rear hatch:
