Well, it finally happend. I beened my neighbors car backing out of my driveway, I did a pretty good job of effing up hIs grill, but only crinkled my trucks passenger side rear bumper piece. Since i was planning on removing ( or taping off) the two ends to paint them black, now i have a reason to remove at least ONE .
How do they come off? do I have to spend five hours dismantling the rear bumper ( like the front) or is there a magic way of popping off the dead one. I can actually destroy the damaged one getting it off, but will a new one pop on?
any help is appriciated in advance
Happy holidays!

I don't think i understand. Wouldn't you try to avoid hitting your neighbors car if you know it's bound to happen? You must be aware that there is rear sonar on your rig right?

you would think so....
as for the sonar...I dont think it works, since i have turned it on, and slowly backed toward a wall of a building, and i never had any indication of anything in the way.
I plan on taking it to the dealer to check.
but. besides my lack of attention...it there a way to remove and replace this piece?

Rear Sonar works great coming straight on.

I've noticed that when you are backing on a 45 degree, it does not work at all.
If you are backing staight at a 90 degree to the obstacle, the beeper seems to be very effective.
Probably something to do with the beams that it uses only traveling and reflecting in straight lines..gm

I wonder if there is a way to add a couple more sensors to the system. The sensors probably wouldn't cost that much and it would add more power to the system. Most of these rear sensor systems already have four.

bigun..thanks for the link. Just what I needed.
Seems its easier to pop off the rear bumper, since it ( supposedly ) has only 6 screws, and the ends pop off best from the inside.
My problem is, its cold here, no driveway, and the only time i can work is after dark. I am seriously considering trading my unused front bumper to the body shop, in trade for fixing my little mis-fortune.
I was planning on holding on to the front bumper, and selling it after the winter.
i also have to deal with whateve cost I incure from my neighbors damage.
As said before...I tested the rear sonar this am, and it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. so I need to get the dealer to fix it.
anyone know of a few bumper caps laying around?

God D**m, there are a lot of screws to get this bumper off.....
half done...the rest this weekend. At least i can paint the silver stuff black now.
