I am in the process of replacing the sill, bed and fender wells in my '76 FJ40. It had been in some kind of collision driver side rear by either another vehicle or a rock/tree. Then straightened out by Team BONDO.
The rear sill is so mangled/rusted I can't get accurate measurements to line everything up. Can some one
tell me..
1. Heigth of rear sill and the step up used on ambo door style tubs.
2. thickness of body mount/ gap between rear sill and rear cross member
3. heigth from top of sill to the inside edge of the body tub that support the hard top.
I need to make sure it is all correct so my top and ambo doors seal correctly if i ever decide to use them.
thanks

rear sill

may be that link will help you out.

sorry the plan is in french, just make the conversion metric to imperial.

For the ambulance door layout, you should install your hard top with the ambulance door first before removing your rear sill.

The opening for ambulance door is around 41 inch wide , The gap between the rear frame support and the rear sill is around 1/4 to 1/2 inch depends on your frame support alignement . use rubber shim to get a proper fit with your tub floor and the rear sill assy.
for my installation is use only 1/4 inch rubber shim.

wish that will help

p.s. not sure of drawing dimension, i bought a rear sill kit from canada cruiser

Rear Sill

Thanks for the link and help. I was resorting to calling anyone with an ambo door era cruiser for sale
and asking to use their tub for measurements. The problem is the only one I could get access to locally
was as rusted and bondo filled as mine.
