I finally got around to fixing that annoying rear seat back rattle. The PO had electrical tape wrapped around the seat "bolts" but it quickly wears off. I have heard of using vacuum hose as well but never got around to trying it. I ended up just swapping the latches all together. I noticed the latches on my '90 62 parts truck were slightly different than the ones on my 60. There are rubber pads that push the bolts against the latch arms and eliminate any movement. I pulled the old ones out, threw the new ones in and problem solved.

Sorry, if this has been covered before, just thought i'd share.

My originals ('86 60 series)

Anyone have any experience with getting rid of a rattle in the passenger seat? I need to rebuild my front end so ive got enough wobble to send the passenger seat into a jiggling noisemaking frenzy. Ive been tossing a bag or something in it to keep the seat back from moving but anybody know how to fix it? Rubber under the mounting bolts? Worn pieces in the reclining mechanism.

I apologize for the hijack btw.

Spector sells that rubber piece for the latch. SOR shows it as a part for the 60 series, but OEM part is for the 62. I bought them from SOR it fit my 60 fine. I assume the OEM part is the same.

My 60 series has the latches of your 62. Kinda odd. I doubt that the PO swapped them. Any other 60 owners have it too?

Yep. '83 FJ60, original owner (well, my dad, anyway)--so I know they're the real deal.

Glad to see this thread. That back seat rattle is driving me nuckin' futs!

Rear Seat Rattle

I'm having the same problem and fixed it with tape for now, but I know of a donor 62, might go with the swap. While we are on the subject of back seats, I have and extremely stupid question (only had my 60 for 6 weeks) Where is the release for tho bottom half of the back seat to fold it up? I swear I've looked everywhere. (unintentional hijack)
