I'm replacing my u joints and finding some conflicting information around the internet, and not finding what I need from the search button on the forums.

I pulled my rear prop shaft out and noticed the two flange yokes are not in phase, they are about 30 degrees off. The truck has no noticable vibration or anything, but something on the driveshaft is squealing at ~2500 RPM hence the u joint replacement.

Can someone confirm the phasing of the rear prop shaft for fj62 (1988)? The fsm doesn't seem to mention it, and it appears from the diagram that the front and rear flange yokes should be in phase (ie, aligned.)

.

When I reinstall them should I put them in phase as they should be and hope for the best? Or reinstall them as they were when I pulled them off? Or neither, and take it to get balanced?

The crucial alignment is the direction of the grease zerks. If you align the shafts differently that what the FSM shows - you won’t be able to access a few of the zerks.

My suggestion:
Reassemble the shafts exactly as the FSM shows then take it to a driveshaft shop to get balanced.
Any time the u-joints get replaced, it’s best to get the shaft balanced again.

Make sure the shop doesn’t realign the shafts after you bring it in. Some will because “that’s how we align all are shafts “. If they do - you won’t be able to grease it.
Don’t count on the shop to install the two shafts correctly. They’ll likely do it wrong - even if you bring in a diagram and tell them to follow it (they won’t look at it). Landcruiser driveshaft alignment isn’t like most trucks.

After I replaced my shaft ujoints- I got it balanced, and they put weights in different spots compared to what I had previously.

Remember- if you have to remove a ujoint’s C clip to change its orientation, you shouldn’t use that C clip again. Gotta buy new ones.
