Alright, it's almost Christmas. And I've been good. And the compnay has been profitable.. And it's a company truck - so either I spend it or give it to the tax man...

I have enjoyed the two wheeling trips I've been on this past year, but...

I was not able to climb a hill with @CharlestonG8R while at OTMT this year. That has left me feeling emasculated.... well, that and being hauled up the hill by a Toyota on 40" tires may have contributed to that, also.

I have read a bunch of reviews, and come to the conclusion that I would be best served to add an ARB rear Air Locker and compressor to my truck. I do not feel that I need to add a front locker - at least not at this time. No, Im not going to make it rock crawling truck - at least not yet- but I do want to ensure that the next time I am climbing up a little blue / black diamond hill - that I have the ability to make it to the top - un assisted.

So... your thoughts, pros & cons.

if money is not an issue, then by all means, go with ARB. I had an Aussie locker in my 40 and it worked well. However, I wish that I had locked the front too. Being locked front and rear does not only pertain to rock crawling. It applies to other applications too.

Agreed with Michael. If spending money is the goal, I'd go with the ARB.

In all honesty, I'd consider buying that second 40 and upgrading the heck out of it. Not to further emasculate you, sir, but think about how uneasy you were with that trail and the potential for damage. Your 40 is beautiful. I don't think we will ever get in a situation that warrants a locker in that 40. Perhaps you can buy a beater and paint your company logo all over it?

Just a thought! ARB is good and you won't deal with clicking.

I've been watching CL.....
The only trucks that I've seen on CL are folks with hopes and dreams of getting a ridiculous asking price... eBay seems to be more promising. There is a 40 down in Brunswick, GA for sale on CL that looks rather promising. Probably not as good as that local deal you found - if he even still has it!

There's a 60 in Huger for $ 3500

Your best bet would be an ARB, that way you can turn it off on the street.
Bulletproof is Detroit. but with a 40, they dont like to unlock on the street..
come by and ride\drive my 62 and make sure the unlocking "noise" won't bother you before you decide.
They call it a clicking noise, but it's much louder than that...turns heads for sure.

Yep, Dbenke put an Aussie locker in my FJ60....I loved it but did make clicking noise when turning and people always thought something was broken. LOL Worked like a charm though and still does from my understanding... :)

ARB is more expensive as you get the entire 3rd member plus compressor and lines and such...but you can turn it on and off when not needed. With the Aussie or Detroit or others...no electrical or air lines to fail but you have them all the time and if not set up properly can be an issue.

I would check out davids detroit and see if Clayton will let you check out the Aussie locker in the 60 I sold him....then make your decision.
