Having some trouble evaluating if my rear heat and air has a problem.
The only air I can get to blow out of the upper ducts in the 3rd row is cold air.
I am assuming the only air that can blow through there is COLD. Hot air will blow through the lower ducts in the 2nd row. Should hot air blow anywhere else in the 2nd or 3rd row of the vehicle?
Again, tried to use the search bar, I'm prob being too specific. Thanks in advance!
Any detailed response is appreciated! :)

It's my understanding that only the early years had rear heat, possibly just '98. Mine has it, and does not have rear AC (upper vents). Do you also have the vents at the base of the center console for the second row? You'd have controls there for it too, along with a button on the dash. I've never seen it in conjunction with rear AC.

There is a control panel on the drivers side ceiling above the 2nd row headrest. It does function the fan for the vent underneath the center console. The control panel has a slider function to control the temperature, and has buttons for on/off, fan speeds, and vent designation. It had to have had rear heat out of the factory though, because the slider goes all the way up to 85 degrees f. I'm going to troubleshoot it some more.

on a further separate note to anyone interested, I am replacing the hood struts for the engine compartment, and the new struts did NOT come with the mounting hardware to mount the struts to the truck. I was unable to get the factory hardware off, because the strut ends did not a have a clip release built in, and brute force would not release it manually. I could have pulled harder but i did not want to risk stripping the factory threads on the truck. SO....
A cool $54 (Shipped) for (4) mounting points from cruiserparts.com and I should be in business. I'm sure I could (and should) have shopped more but geez thats a lot of kale for those stupid things!!:bang::bang::bang:

If there's a rear heater there should be hot water piping going back from the engine compartment (and refrigerant). The other day I was under the LC, changing oil, and I noticed a large pipe tucked up by the body on the passenger side but I didn't think to see if it was refrigerant or water. It was about 5/8" OD steel (maybe stainless?) which is more likely to be water but could be refrigerant return I suppose

Can't say about an '02 LC, but the '00 LX has the rear seat heating element under the driver's seat with a small squirrel cage blower that has it's air intake element facing up covered by a round grill (maybe 4" in diameter - not easy to measure with seat in place). If the LC uses the same mechanism you should be able to feel under there for the grill, then with the heat on put your hand over the blower air entrance (or maybe use some sort of ribbon) to see if the blower is spinning.

Without thinking over hard about it, I always assumed that the infamous "T"s in the heater lines at the rear of the engine headed down to feed the rear seat heater.

Like I said, don't know anything about your specific year/model, but hope his helped.

I have an 00 lx which only blows ac through the upper vents and heat through lower in the rear.
