I am looking at buying a 2014 Lexus Lx 570 and had it checked out by a 3rd party. Vehicle checks out except for rear tv screens. Both are inoperable but the radio and climate control are working fine.

This vehicle is far away from Virginia so I will not be able to take it to a Lexus dealer for a quote unless I buy it and bring it my dealer locally.

Anyway, I do not care that the rear TVs don’t work except if it could possibly affect other aspects of the car long term. Meaning is this an issue that could be a precursor to other electrical issues?

Also, just for negotiations what have any of you seen as the cost to repair these monitors?

Thanks in advance.

Cost would depend on what’s wrong. Things like the screens are not going to be repaired, they would just be replaced. Lexuspartsnow has them listed at $4700 each MSRP and about $3500 discount price, each. However, it’s more likely some connection is bad or setting is wrong or the remote is missing, etc. If they are important to you, make it a condition of sale they be working.

The remote and “head phones” are missing. If the remote is missing will the system not work?

On my ‘17 LC (different system!), the remote has to used for the screen functions. I’m not sure about simple on/off, but I suspect you have to have remote on the ‘14 LX570. Hopefully someone with the Lexus will chime in.

I have a '13 LX I am guessing it's the same system. If it is you can turn on the DVD system and monitors from the Audio menu in the touchscreen. But first you have to "Power it up" by turning on the power through the touchscreen. You then need to remote to pause, FF, etc but you power on the system through the touchscreen.

Have you checked out the menu or had the selling dealer go through the audio menu?

I have not. Thanks everyone for our input. I’ll see if they can manually go through the audio menu.

An aftermarket install for headrests and a brain to run them is only a few hundred. Less if you buy used and do it yourself. my opinion is mechanical fitness and overall fit/finish of vehicle is more important than this one feature working. The near future would be tablet holders and independent tablets anyhow, kids much prefer this to a canned movie they can't independently control
