Had someone back into my '03 wagon, and their insurance paid for the fix. The main things replaced were the rear hatch and the tailgate, and they were replaced with parts from Toyota.

The damage was cosmetic, the dented parts functioned perfectly and the vehicle drove fine.

I picked the finished truck up yesterday and the work looks good and the paint matches well. However I am hearing a lot of noise from the back of the truck while driving. It was raining when I picked it up and for the first time I could hear the spray from the rear tires hitting the underside of the truck. I also can hear a whine off of the rear tires that I could never hear before. They are fairly new Michelin LTX tires which are very quiet.

Can anyone think of something to look for that is allowing this road noise to come through? Maybe there is some sort of insulation in the tailgate that wasn't transferred/replaced?

Thanks in advance.
Ted

Vent windows in the back are completely closed? I've left one partially open before and got some noise coming in.

Other than that, make sure the rear tailgate and hatch are closely correctly, up on the rubber seal. If you are getting road noise, then there must be a gap somewhere.
