Hi All,

Hope everyone keeping safe during these trying times.

I've had an issue that the rear hatch lock wasn't locking/unlocking via key or door lock button.

So, being a long weekend (no lockdown here) I thought to tackle the problem.
After stripping the trim, first was to determine there was power at the lock. All good!
Next check if anything moves. Seems there may be but not sure. (Nobody around to lend a hand)
Strip the lock out! As per previous inmate posts, not a simple process.
But once out I had to marvel at just how complicated this thing is and admire the person who designed it.

You may have noticed a small screw inserted into a plastic slide in the middle of the gubbins. That wasn't there when I started. After much head-scratching, installing, checking, stripping, re-installing etc (you get the idea) I finally figured out what has to slide where and when to allow operation manually and to lock/unlock the lock itself.
Turns out that little slide was bust and kept falling out of position thus not allowing lock disengagement. So, make a plan, drill a fine hole into the slide and insert screw.

Hey Presto, all good.

Few more pics.
Make sure you have time on your hands and a lot of patience. :)
Mum got stuck in lockdown outside the country so I have plenty of time. The patience comes from being an anal bastid. o_O

Good fix! Need to file that one away for the future.

"the middle of the gubbins " what a great phrase, I'm gonna have to find a good time to use that at work.

I appreciate the ingenuity with he screw haha. I have many fixes on vehicles where some plastic part has worn out and I've "repaired it" with a screw or piece of sheet metal, etc. Ill definitely have to take some time to look at mine. It hasn't worked since I got it but haven't cared enough to pull it apart and see what the cause is. After seeing this I will have to give it a shot.
