Thanks, Jenny! Blind in one eye, can't see out of the other. I was looking at that diagram too quickly and the angle of the right side of the glass there suggested to me that it was the rear door, not the back door now that I have that straight...
I see that the glass is NLA. IIRC, someone said it was in the $900 range back when I first put mine up, so my new friend inSeattle got a pretty fair deal at $100 plus shipping and packaging, which ended up totaling (with $175 to FedEx) $325.
Here's a look at how you package a big piece of glass to go cross-country, hopefully without damage.
I used a couple of foam packers from a recently purchased small flatscreen TV to protect the ends.
I used the plastic wrap to hold the styrofoam pieces I cut to protect that connectors at each side. Wally is the inspector.
I used several layers of 1" foamboard that came out just right to level up with the end packers, wrapping plastic round and round as I went. Then I used some Gorilla tape as a bit of insurance from anything shifting.
Finally, I boxed it with 1x6 boards that were the driest I could find to keep the weight downand turned out to be the exact width of the foam package (5 1/2"). The packaged glass had angled ends so that's how I built the "cookie." You could also build it rectangular and pack some additional foam in. As it turns out, when I cut the 1/8" x 4' wide masonite sides, this created some handholds. It looks kind of heavy but the inner foam "cookie" weighed 18 lbs and the outer box was also 18 lbs, so a total of only 36 lbs. This method should also work with other glass for a Land Cruiser
