I bought a trooper disc brake reaend, hoping to use it in the 60, looks alittle tough though, the axle bearing is pressed into the disc brake bracket, man what a beefy rearend for a soccermom wagon, 4.56 locker too
any ideas guys

I had to buy the whole thing with plans on using the brakes, I build chev and ford rearends allday long, never had my cruiser rear apart yet, but the 60 needs more brake, especially with my 20" boat on behind

i think that last statement you made explains it. Dont think any cruisers were designed to have anything 20' behind them

I only live about 2 miles from the boat launch so it's not big a deal with the boat,
I have noticed it at 6000 feet pointing down with my tent trailer on behind and a full load of gear

I don't know if I'd call a Trooper a "soccer mom wagon". I'd reserve that title for the Yukon's, Explorers etc.
Here in the developing world the Trooper comes just below the 'Cruisers and Patrol's and the Yukon's and Explorer's don't even rate!!

So what you're really asking is if anyone has ever adapted Trooper brakes to an FJ60 rear axle?

There are only a couple issues that would determine whether it's easy or even possible: how thick are the Trooper rotors vs what will fit on the 60 axle; with the rotor with the desired offset on the 60 axle & the Trooper caliper (with new pads & the slide centered on the frame) on the rotor, is an adapter plate is even possible.

I've looked at lots of aftermarket GM (for the 6x5.5 stud pattern) rear disc replacements but none of them jumps out at me. Think I'll leave the brain damage to someone else & go with the TSM conversion that uses the Eldo single-piston calipers with parking brakes. Unless some other brainiac comes up with multi-piston calipers with parking brakes, that is. My JDM FF is waiting. So is my 25' sailboat.

(For the record, I've installed disc brake conversions on a 55 F100 & a 73 Super Beetle.)

I took the rear back, I 've got a locker for a toy(i think it is anyways) and I have a couple of camaro rear disc conversions laying around, might be a spring project, got lots of other things to do on it before winter and snowboard season
