Hi,

I have a 2004 HDJ100, and a 1999 HDJ100. The '99 has manual transmission and the factory rear electric locker. The '04 has automatic transmission and originally had a open rear diff (just the ABS based traction control), however an ARB air locker is fitted to it.

My question here, is can I just swap the rear diffs (e.g. just the diff carrier complete assembly) between them ? Assuming I take care of the electrical/air control systems.

Have all LC100s had the same diff ratios throughout the years, and prop shaft and axle spline count etc ? and do the locked & non-locked rear diffs have identical rear axles/housings?

any info greatly received...

thank

Thanks for the pointer hoser, from your doc and my VIN plates I can see

'99 (w/manual, factory locker), axle code = A02A :
A = 7.5" diameter ring gear
02 = 3.727 gear ratio
A = 2 pinions

'04 (w/auto, open diff + ARB), axle code = A03A :
A = 7.5" diameter ring gear
03 = 4.100 gear ratio
A = 2 pinions

…so at minimum I'd have to swap over the front diffs are well. Also the gearing ratio changes, would make it even harder for the '04 to turn it's 35" wheels.

good to know, thanks again.

/Pete
