Hey, I just got my first Land Cruiser (a 2001) and for a while it I thought it didn't have rear cup holders. Had the rectangle but it wouldn't pop out when pushed and had nowhere to grab.
We got a little brave and used a little silverware and wedged it out. It had a Starbucks cardboard thing in it. If pushed back in it won't come out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong? How's it supposed to work. Thanks in advance!

Just keep using a butter knife and gently try to wedge it back out. Those things are notorious for getting gummed up with whatever the kids were drinking on the way back form the soccer game. I got mine to open up and I sprayed it down with a spray bottle filled with warm water, let it soak for about 10 minutes, sprayed it with water again and meticulously cleaned it. Afterwards I sprayed a little white silicone grease on all the moving parts and it has been golden ever since.

Oh...and Welcome to the forum! You're going to love the 100 Series.

Thank you for the reply and the welcome but if I may ask. How is it supposed to open? When completely closed there isn't a good way to get a grip.... Is it supposed to be a push and release? We put some WD40 in and worked it out a bit but there doesn't seem to be a good way to grip it.

It is intended to be a spring push-back release. When not gunked up, you would press in, which would release a catch and cause the internal spring to push back to the open position with it coming to rest at roughly 50-75% of the full extended open position (at least in my experience). Keep working it gently and you might want to think about that spray bottle. Get some water in there if you can get it pried back a little. Dried Cola has the same properties as taffy as is an excellent bonding agent.

If you don't have it figured out by tomorrow, I'll get you some pics of the workings from my LC.

The IT industry has been pretty good to me! Its nice to be able to play with tech all day.

Thank you very much for the quick reply but I'm not sure I'll have time to check/figure it out by tomorrow night. If your available I'll message/reply as soon as I can.

Push in on it!

Apparently the PO of my rig had someone step on the cup holder and broke the ends of the plastic slides so now mine just slides all the way out and into the floor. The only way to fix it is to buy the whole back of the console for a pretty coin.
